Our journey – Following Jesus

Home School/education

Sirens

On Thursday the 4th March we went to visit the clinic in Long Beach Mall for an education trip on medical equipment etc. We also visited the Medical response unit in Kommetjie Road. Amazing opportunity to show the kids hands on what they should know and they could ask all their questions to the rescue unit staff.

We were grateful for the people’s response when we walked in and asked them to show us around. They gave their all and walked the extra mile for us. The kids had the opportunity to experience something of what they do and we could in return reach out by words of encouragement for making a difference….Thanx!

Needle pulling thread

Jeanelle has asked me to teach her how to sow.  Today the 26th January,  we had the opportunity to do that!  We went to Somerset West to borrow grandma’s sewing machine.  We were preparing for Maruche’s Birthday.  Edge-sewing triangles to decorate the gazebos for the occasion.

Jeanelle’s comments: “It was a wonderful hands on experience and I enjoyed it a lot. I was a little scared to do it but later on when I stitched a little faster my dad would totally freak out because he’s scared I’m going to stitch my fingers off, Haha!”

Green Gobler

This was Emile’s art project for the month of February.

Wow, he did a great job.

Well done Emile!

Visiting the SAPS – Life’s lessons…

We all have choices to make throughout live….  Some are good (glorifying God), some are bad.  Part of our Stewardship character trade we had to talk about are abuse and prevention.  We used the opportunity to take the kids to Fish Hoek Police Department to show them what happens when we do make wrong choices (Exodus 20).   Hands-on activities such as field trips and engaging in fun, is part of our children’s learning process and we as parents can be part of that!

We want to encourage you to live in God’s grace.  Let’s not conform ourselves to become like the world according to Galatians 5:19-23

There are many things available to lead us – people, the devil and his demons, the flesh (our bodies, minds, wills, emotions), and the Holy Spirit.  There are many voices in the world that speak to us, often several at the same time.  We need to learn to be led by the Holy Spirit and to be responsive to, controlled and guided by the Spirit.  When we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us, He becomes involved in every decision we make.  He speaks in a still, small voice in our hearts, or what we often call “the inward witness”.  Those of us who desire leading by the Holy Spirit must learn to follow the inward witness and to respond quickly.

May love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control become more and more part of our lives as we follow the voice of the Lord.
