Our journey – Following Jesus

All Nations

The Ark

For the month of June we’ve stayed in the Ark at our church.  We were fortunate to use the facilities on the premises, allocated for missionaries.

It’s been a challenge!
We’ve moved eight times in the last 17 months.  Brackenfell to Noordhoek Capri, Capri to Kommetjie, Kommetjie to Africa House, Africa House to Noordhoek Chalets, Noordhoek Chalets to The Ark, The Ark to Summerset-West and back into The Ark, The Ark into our house in Brackenfell.

The amazing part is that we felt God was in every move. Allow me tell you one story. It was the last Thursday in May when I just felt we were finished in Noordhoek and we need to return to Brackenfell. I talked to Marlese about it and left it there. Later the same day the agent that was looking after our house phoned me and said that the tenants want to know if they can move out end of June?

I discussed it with Marlese again and explained that maybe we can stay in the Ark, then I will be closer to our businesses in Bellville etc. I started to read my emails. Guess what? There was an email from All Nations asking if our apartment is available for June. Well we immediately started with the arrangements to make the move. Everything worked out perfectly, or at least thats what we thought. Our lease in Noordhoek only expired 31 July and All Nations will takeover the lease for the remainder period, wonderful.

Our church back home (Logos) confirmed the Friday that we can stay at the Ark for the month of June, just great. In the mean time the message that we were happy for the tenants to move out sooner did not reach them. The agent called me on Sunday explaining to me that the tenants lost the house they were going to move to because of this. She asked me if we could cancel the early move to Brackenfell since the tenants now will have to stay till they find a house that suits their family?

I simply said no, we can’t! Everything was already packed we intended to move to Brackenfell on Monday and All Nations is taking our apartment, there is no way that we can cancel the move now.

Well, we then moved to Brackenfell with faith in our hearts that God will provide for both of our families. He did too. We were in the last week of June when the agent informed me that the tenants found a house they like and they will be moving out the end of June. What a relief!

Our faith were definitely tested but as always God showed up on time!

Equipped to go

We had the privilege to have David Watson as a guest speaker at All Nations Cape Town 22-24 March 2010. David is one of the world leaders in planting churches and what a pleasure it was to meet him in person.

Here are some of the important pointers that I learned from him:
1.) Church planting is not a Job, it is a lifestyle.
2.) We can not draw people to Christ only God does (John 6:43-51).
3.) If we listen, we shall live.
4.) The church need to learn how to be obedient (John 14).
5.) Strive to live everyday the way God said in Deu.6 and thus be a beacon to the people around you. Be the light that draws them to you – cockroaches vs. moths.
6.) People do not want your religion! They want the God they see in you! Don’t try to teach them your religion, teach them about God the Father, the Holy Spirit and Jesus the son. Trust God for the rest!
7.) Discovery Bible studies work best. This is where God speaks to people through his word.

If you would like to find out more about the Church planting process or Discovery Bible studies, please visit David’s blog at http://www.davidlwatson.org/.

Joe Ewen

Tuesday, 23rd February 2010.  Joe from Scotland visited All Nations again to teach about the Gifts of the Spirit.   Encouraging and stirring hunger for more of God.

“Faith begins when mans’ power ends.  The greatest word that can come from your mouth is “Thank you, Jesus”.” Faith is a gift of God.  Eph 2:8  For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

We had the privilege of having Joe over for dinner.  We enjoyed our friendship in the Lord, sharing our hearts and trusting God for insight He is pouring out in our lives.   We need to settle this in our hearts:  “God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow”.  He wants you to push through!

Choose 2 Live

You hear the sirens and you hope and pray that it’s not your child that they’re coming for…  you hope and pray that your child hasn’t been caught in the crossfire of a gang fight.  you pray and hope that your child hasn’t been stabbed by a drug addict for his cell phone.  Above all, you hope it isn’t your child that pulled the trigger or handled the knife.  you wish that someone would clean up your community and get rid of the gangsters and drug dealers and the bad influence they come with.

How do we make a difference?

We’ve really experienced that acknowledging people for who they are, accepting them and listen to their story makes a huge difference in peoples lives.  We are so busy and tend not to listen with real enthusiasm and sincere hearts…  While we minister to people in the communities people step up, taking courage when they are encouraged to say how they feel and how they themselves can make a difference in their communities.  To equip the poor and help them by taking up a new identity in Christ as their Savior is amazing!  If we all stand together to help communities rise up, their whole environment will change being a safer, caring community, one that they also deserve to live in…  Together we can…

Heart 2 Heart ministry

Thursday afternoon 11th February we had a mommy’s mentoring meeting.  I would like to tell you more about Heart 2 Heart.  The Heart 2 Heart discipleship program is designed to provide one-on-one, hand-in-hand discipleship through basic pregnancy awareness, pre & post-natal care, teaching newborn & infant care as well as helping the mother establish a foundation in Christ.  We aim to empower these young women to be reach their full potential and in turn, empower other young moms in their communities as well.

I am so excited to be part of and becoming a Mommy Mentor!  There are many struggling young women in the communities that long for help and friendship.  How awesome that I get to be the one that shares Hope and help with them.  We know that in each one of us are special treasures that time, experience, hardships, and joy have created within us.  These treasures can now be shared with other young women!

Our Home Church in Noordhoek

This is who we are: following Jesus, having communion with each other and doing discovery bible studies together.  We meet once a week, get together to encourage, love and share our journeys with one another. The majority of the team works in Red Hill, planting churches.

Prayer walking in Bellville

On Saturday 13th February 2010 we went prayer walking with Logos our church in Bellville.  The idea is to reach the community surrounding the church building and therefore encourage individuals, families and friends to get to know the people in the community and to serve them.

We are very excited about the new challenges and we would like you to pray for this initiative. This might become one of our family’s main missions for the next 2-3 years. We are praying about going back to Brackenfell in September 2010. Our prayer is that we will now God’s complete plan and calling in this regard.

Gingerbread Man

Emile and Maruche was invited to bake a Gingerbread man with some of the other All Nations’ Family kids.  They had a wonderful time together on Wednesday morning, getting their hands dirty and having fun.  Tricia from America took initiative to host us and she prepared some cookies in advance.  The kids worked at their own station, kneading, rolling and cutting their cookies.  They decorated the baked ones with candy (sweets).  The children could choose two and the rest of the cookies would be handed out in the local communities on Christmas day, spoiling children who don’t have a home or might not receive any gift for Christmas.   What an awesome idea!!!

10 Days 4 Jesus

During December 2009, Jeanelle was invited to do the ten days for Jesus camp with All Nations.  A huge priviledge!  Bruce, the team leader/co-ordinator decided to allow her (as a thirteen year old), because he believes in equipping future leaders.  In his eyes, Jeanelle is a good leader and should get the opportunity to take on this challenge.   He said:  “girl, when you’re eighteen, you might decide to facilitate groups in 10 Days4Jesus”.  He was definitely casting vision, hope and opportunities into her life.

Jeanelle asked if she could blog her experience and tell you more about her journey with God and what they did.  Her story follows….

On December 11th, we had a launch in Grabouw, Back to Basics camp site with raft building, challenging obstacles that encouraged team work,  a lot of thinking and fun.  Every morning with a devotional time with Floyd, giving us handy tips on everyday life and how to disciple others.

I was appointed to work with the Masi (Masiphumelele) team.  I worked with Sarah and I’ve met a lot of people.  Siphe was one of the people we visited daily and prayed with.  We trusted God for a breakthrough in his life and by the end of the week, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal saviour.  God also brought healing as a tangible sign to him.  It was a miracle.

We also repaired Cynthia’s roof.  So with this hands-on project we got dirty, but the joy cannot be described in words.  It was a great adventure.  Sarah got the story on her blog.  Here is the link if you want to read more. LINK

During the time in Masi, we got lost…  Oops!  More than 40 000 people live on this piece of land.  One of the team mates asked whether I’m scared or not.  I said: “No, I know that God and His angles are protecting us”.  God is faithful!  We need to have faith.

I also enjoyed my thirteen birthday on the camp.  I was spoilt.  Everybody signed cards and gave prophesies and words of encouragement to me – it ment a lot to me!

I learned a lot about house church.  I would love to start a house church with some of my previous school mates in a girls group.  Please pray with me, that God will use me and to do the work He wants to do in these girls I’m ministering to.  I’m challenged! I’ve learned a lot about the disciples prayer from Matthew 6:9-13.  How we should engage in prayer with adoration (Our Father in heaven), consecration (Holy be Your Name), intercession (Your Kingdom come …..), in filling (give us this day our daily bread), cleansing (forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us), spiritual warfare (do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one) and declaration (For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the Glory forever).  I’ve also learned a lot about how to journal and to spend my time with God.

On the last day we held a kids club in Masi.  The kids called me vampire, because of my braces and white girl-person.  We had a lot of fun and our team did a great job!

It was a hard week, with long hours.  I was dedicated to finish well.  The mornings started at 06:00 with prayer in the prayer house, followed with breakfast at 07:00, meetings/devotional time with Floyd at 09:00 and off to the townships at 11:00 – 16:00, then we prepared dinner for 18:00 and cleaned up.  After dinner we enjoyed team building times with worship, fun and games, movies, drama & skits till 22:00.  I was exhausted, but as my parents previously said:  “Money can’t buy this experience – even in ten days!

I had wonderful personal times with the Lord as I tasted more of Jesus’ love for me as a child.  I can be a leader and I grasp what life is all about…

I’ve got hope  for the nations in South Africa for Africa.  We need to disciple Africans in their day to day living, making better and informed choices in their lives, accepting Jesus and serving Him alone (breaking loose from bondage of ancestor worshiping).  Speaking the truth and love will convict people, families, communities and nations.  We should build relationship and build bridges with different cultures.  We need to accept others and our differences with humility, respect, transparency and real Jesus-love.  We need to coach Jesus’ values to change Africa!  God can use you, if you are will to be used!  God stirred something in my heart…

Checking in…

The year started off pretty slow and suddenly the pace is building up.  Our All Nations Family Meetings started and we gather every morning to worship, pray and prepare for the new CPx 2010 students.  We cast visions together and really seek God’s face for a fresh word for 2010.

It’s amazing that God meets us where we are.  You don’t need to be ready, have all the knowledge but just be willing to come in line with where He wants you.  As we’ve experienced throughout 2009, being “FAT”  -  Faithful, Available and Teachable.

We believe that God will guide you in your journey as you come closer to Him in your walk throughout 2010. Don’t stop to ask God to reveal His plan for you in 2010!

Blessing Sarah

Sarah (our big sister from All Nations) are going home to Alaska. She will visit her family back home and raise support to come back to South Africa to serve another year with All Nations in Cape Town. We cooked a nice dinner for her on Monday evening (21st December 2009) to spend time with her.

When I invited Sarah, I said that I would like to bless her with a gift, but the only thing that comes to mind is John 6 (Two fish & five loaves).  She shared that God is speaking to her about these two fishes and five loaves.  Amazing!  So I thought to bless Sarah with, a tray. The kids helped me to do a mosaic of the two fish and five bread loaves on the tray. A mosaic gift for Sarah

Turning thirteen

Can you recall this big mile stone in your life?  13 – entering adolescence (young adulthood).  We just want to pray a blessing over Jeanelle’s life.  A blessing with regards to relationships, dating, marriage, parenting, purpose, finances and health.  That she will walk where God is calling her.  That she will enjoy an abundant life with the power of  Christ in her.  We would like to sow seeds into her life that will be a powerful testimony going from one generation to another.  We believe that God has picked her from her generation to go forward riding on the wave of blessing and fight the battle of truth.

Jeanelle is very alive, a bookworm, has no fear, takes on any challenge, enjoy life, work hard, loves her family & friends.

On the 15th of December 2009, Jeanelle celebrated her 13th B’day.  She enjoyed the day with her 10 Days 4 Jesus – friends at the Africa House, reaching out to the nearby communities.  The students spoilt her with encouraging words, cards and gifts.  Mom baked a delicious chocolate cake for pudding and we’ve enjoyed supper together as a family in the garden.

Nativity Play

On Sunday morning we had the last Community Celebration morning for 2009 at the Africa House. Individuals and families to whom we minister and meet in the communities, come together, worship, listen to testimonies, those who accepted Christ and wants to be baptized gets baptized. During the adult meeting I’m privileged to share the Gospel with the kids in our Kids Ministry. It’s a lot of fun, but a huge responsibility.

God spoke to me about the real meaning of Christmas over the last few weeks. I started planning the Nativity play for the kids from the community. We showed them hands-on and they enjoyed being part of the story of Jesus’ birth. As I got everything together, people donated goods and within a few days I got everything we needed and trusted God to provide.

I read the nativity play and Lucas, one of the 10Days4Jesus students translated in Xhosa and we dressed up the kids as the story line was played out. They had so much fun with songs, actions and we believe they could grasp the story easily because they could see it with their own eyes.

Please pray with us that the real understanding of Jesus’ birth will take route in their hearts and that the Holy Spirit will reveal the truth of Christmas. We pray that each and every child will seek to follow Christ for who He really is and that a new generation will be raised up, free from ancestor worshiping and the bondages of the past.

Dangerous Waters

Sarah received mail and brought her brothers’ family long awaited radio broadcasting series (they’ve recently launched in the USA) along. Jeanelle, Emile & Maruche enjoyed it so much. Listening with anticipation and following the story…

Kids celebration

Emile and TebogoDuring our Celebration on Sunday morning, 23rd August we had our first organised kids celebration gathering.  I took initiative and asked Floyd whether we could also teach the children during the celebration mornings.  Our aim will be to share the God Story on the level that kids will understand the Gospel and enjoy fellowship together with loads of fun and activities as well.  We are exited about our families involvement in helping us.

Jeanelle took responsibility in greeting & welcoming the kids with their parents and had boldness and courage to lead a small group.  It was great!  Maruche helped unpacking and preparing the lesson.

After teaching we shared the message of the Living Ball with the kids.  We would like to send a ball into each of the communities.  Tebogo is a thriteen year old boy from Red Hill (his mother is part of our ladies group meetings) and when I started to share the story, Emile interupted me saying:  “No, you can’t share the story.  It is for the kids.  I will share the story”.  So as Emile shared the Gospel, using the Living Ball as a tool, Siya translated for him in Xhosa.  I was completely blown away with his understanding and passion.

With each of  our next Celebration gatherings we will cover the rest of the God Story with the children and encourage them to be bold in sharing the Gospel with fellow friends in their communities.  Fun activities at the celebration, Siya on the right

New family…..

This is a post to take you to a lovely post of one of our friends we’ve met during CPx.
She is Sarah Bultman Marlese and the kids had a good time with her when I was away.

Where we need support?

Our sponsorship for the CPx course did not realise. We have an outstanding balance of R66 000.00 for CPx fees.

The management of All Nations does not force us to pay these fees immediately, but we are obligated to settle the account as soon as possible.

We need your support in this regard. If you feel part of our journey in any way and you would like to support us, you can support us by your prayers or by making monthly financial contributions.

The size of your contributions is entirely between you and God and we would urge you to pray about it. I believe that we can manage our business debts but we need support for our outstanding CPx fees and mission projects.

Thank you.

Farming God’s way

23-7-2009

It’s primarily about mentoring, and discipling, not about farming!  An Apostolic initiative for preaching the gospel strengthening and planting churches and extending the Kingdom of God within an emphasis on sustainable agriculture as a model for life transformation of individuals, communities and nations.

In the near future we will be starting to do Foundations for farming in the communities we’ve been working with.  We are very exited about this joint venture.  Land has been spotted where individuals representing All Nations, can start and use this opportunity where we will build relationships to share the Gospel.

Orientation week

For the next few days (23rd – 25th July) we will attend orientation sessions for all the people who will join All Nations permanently (or at least 3 years).  We’ve decided to represent All Nations and would like to be part of the family.

Please pray with us:

  • God will reveal where exactly He wants us to go (nation group, country)
  • Financial breakthroughs

Dedication @ Celebration

Sunday, 19th July 2009

Celebration weekend….  We have a monthly gathering at the Africa House to enjoy fellowship together with all the people from the different communities.   We worship together, listen to testimonies and respond to God’s love for us by baptizing those who returned back to Christ as well as new believers.  We are so thankful for what God is doing in the communities!

Maputsi, one of the ladies in Red Hill from the ladies group gave birth to Lumka-Maria on July 11th and dedicated her little girl, with her husband Vovu to God.  We are astounded!

Limese, is now part of our ladies group.  She is Nono’s neigbour.  We are also having small church meetings in their house on Wednesday evenings.  Please pray for spiritual breakthroughs for her and her husband.  He is not interested yet, listens, but very passive.  They go to church but don’t have a strong founded relationship with God.

Eby, from Nigeria was one of the biggest drug dealers in Ocean View.  He gave his testimony.  Keith and Simon (CPx students) was ministering to him.  After months they said to him, that he has to make a decision now…  they will not be coming back again and will be waiting for him at the Africa House, if he is ready to commit to live his life for Christ.

A week later, Eby pitched at the Africa House, looking for Keith.  He had a dream….  A demon holding and grabbing his arm, trying to destroy him.  But an eagle came flying, grabbing the demon, tearing it loose and throwing it into the sea.  He knew it was only God, who would be able save him.  He came to tell that he believe he should accept Christ, sell his house and belongings in Ocean View, stop drug dealing and proclaim the Gospel in Nigeria, his home country.  He told the gangsters, he could not offer them anything, except Christ.  He and his wife got baptized as a love response to God for saving them…

Lumka-Maria (1 week old)Maputsi & Vuvu, the proud parents of this little girlGod is at work in all of us!Bantu, invited his brother & his wife and Nono invited her brother Limise and her two little girlsEby, now called Monday

EVANGELINE MINISTRIES

16th July 2009

Wendy Ryan, a missionary from the States living in the Carribian.  She is currently serving in Masipumelele.  She inspired us so much during our debriefing time.  She shared a few points in more detail:

  1. Expect surprises
  2. When God call’s God provides
  3. Without faith, it’s impossible to obey
  4. God will put His compassion in your heart for you to do what He wants you to do
  5. You have a plan – God has an assignment
  6. Your greatest work for God will be done in His strength and your weakness
  7. Get ready for God to amaze you!

She is a journalist in profession, but God called her to South Africa and she is helping women who live with HIV & AIDS find new hope through Jesus Christ.  Her ministry is called EVANGELINE MINISTRIES.   She is reaching out in the communities to help woman to do sewing over a six month period (educating and uplifting)  and then after graduating, receiving a sewing machine.

She has gone back home to do fund raising for the projects.  Please pray with me if I should get involved with these projects, seeing that I come from the clothing industry.  I’ve studied Food & Clothing Technology.  As an entrepreneur I had the opportunity to work from home with my seamstresses, manufacturing “ made to measure garments”, wardrobe planning & figure analysis and corporate wear.

A Fresh view

We had a meeting with Floyd on Wednesday afternoon, June 3rd, to inform him of our current situation and concerns.  He is very open and he respects our priority in business.  For now we will pray and halt with what we are busy doing.  We need a fresh view on what God is doing and teaching us in our current situation.  We will not go to Mozambique or any other outreaches, unless God is telling us through direct confirmation and scripture to go.

In the mean while we will go back to our business on a daily basis to pull things together, minister to staff and manage the business.  We also see this as an opportunity to sow back into the market place what we’ve been taught over the last months.

Fund Raising for Mozambique

For the last week we had the opportunity to have a display table in Long Beach Mall, Noordhoek.

Conrad sharing the Gospel with a lady soccer player, Patience, using the Living Ball as a toolWednesday morning we started with a fund raising project.  We displayed The Living Balls we want to take up to Mozambique as well as some of Floyd’s and other author’s books.  We connected some video clips from All Nations to inform people of what we’re doing.  This is a wonderful opportunity to network.  People came up to us and said they were from other organizations and sometimes receive donations (baby clothes etc.) which they cannot use and if they can donate it to us….

We had to man our table from 9:00 – 17:00 daily till Sunday afternoon at 14:00.  Fun is very important – that’s what we had.  Although the days were very long, we enjoyed talking to people and sharing.

Long Beach Mall: Raymond, Elmond, Christiaan & Conrad It was a hectic Friday.  We are borrowing our car to the Dutch couple, which means we only have one car to drop of kids at school and making sure everyone gets to their destinations in time and be at our outreach table?
